Terms and Conditions of Road trip Motorhome Hire 

Driver requirements

  • Aged over 23 and under 75 years of age.

  • Full driving licence for at least two years (Category B).

  • Driver’s licence no endorsements except for minor speeding or parking offences, no more than 6 penalty points no more than 3 in one offence, must be cleared by insurance before hire can commence. 

  • Driving licence must be produced at time of handover.

  • Passport or other photo ID of the Hirer.

  • Proof of residential ID of the Hirer matching the address stated on the Booking (utility bill, bank statement or credit card statement) 

  • Driver Identification

  • Valid driving licence for each Driver, Non-UK drivers will also require a copy of a valid passport.

  • Valid DVLA check code for each Driver, not applicable for Non-UK driver. Details will be included in an email as to how to obtain the check code.

  • The Hirer will notify us of any changes to the above identification prior to Rental Period. Vehicle Insurance may be compromised if failure to notify of any changes.

  • Visitors from overseas must have a valid un-endorsed domestic driving licence or international driving permit.

  • The hire cost is for one named driver; additional drivers may be added at an additional cost per driver per day providing they meet the above criteria.

Insurance

  • Insurance is valid for the period of the hire; insurance cover is for the vehicle and equipment only. Holiday insurance is advised for personal items and last-minute cancellations.

  • Travelling abroad will require continental comprehensive insurance, and breakdown cover which will be supplied by Road Trip Motorhome Hire at an additional cost to the hirer of £15.00 per day.

  • We strongly advise holiday insurance is in place to cover any unexpected issues which would involve holiday cancellations. 

  • We accept no liability for replacement vehicle costs, travel or accommodation costs or any other subsequent loss claims arising from motorhome breakdown, we will endeavour to rectify any issues mechanical or other in a timely manner. 

Damages Deposit/Excess 

  • A £1000.00 damages deposit is payable prior to hire, In the event of any claim of the insurance the excess of £1000 will be retained. This is a pre authorisation on a credit or debit card and will only be taken in an event. When vehicle is returned it will be inspected to ensure it is in good condition, no damage, with a reasonably clean cooker/interior and an empty toilet cassette, the deposit will be refunded.

  • £50 deducted for toilet not emptied - £50 for unreasonable cleaning charge. 

  • Repairs, cleaning costs and replacements will be charged, and the remainder of the deposit will be refunded. See list of common damages and charges listed.

  • Vehicle damaged by carelessness the hirer will be responsible for full rectification costs charged against the deposit. 

  • Common areas prone to damage - Front and rear bumpers - over cab mouldings - roof lights – windows - wing mirrors and external doors.

Booking

  • Telephone to confirm availability and advise us of any special requests or extras. Your booking will be held for 5 days, deposit of £250.00 per week, by card online or phone. Booking confirmation will be sent to you with instructions regarding driver requirements and checks. Your invoice will be sent with your balance and when outstanding payment is due.

  • Cancellations will be assessed on each individual case, we will try to re-hire the motorhome. If successful, the amount paid will be refunded less £50.00 admin fee. If unable to secure another hire the hirer will be liable for the deposit and hire charges paid in advance. 

  • Motorhomes are to be collected after 10am and must be returned before 4pm unless other arrangements are agreed. No reimbursements for an early return of the motorhome. Late returns will be charged accordingly at £30 per hour and over 3 hours will be charged at the daily rate for the vehicle.

  • We will carry out a full interior/exterior inspection on your return and complete paperwork, if any damage picture evidence will be taken and the charges will be applied to security deposit as applicable. 

  • All motorhomes have a full tank of fuel on collection, and it is required that the motorhomes are returned with a full tank of fuel, if not returned full you will be charged accordingly.

  • If any changes occur to the driver details or the driver no longer meets the hire requirements, we reserve the right to cancel the booking. In this situation the hirer will lose the deposit and any hire charges already paid.

  • Fair wear and tear is acceptable. All accidents and any damage to the motorhome should be reported as soon as possible, this will allow us to order parts to ensure repairs can be rectified for the next hire. 

  • The hirer is responsible for speeding, parking fines, congestion charges and for any other offences committed against the Road Traffic Act or traffic regulations.

  • The hirer must secure the motorhome when unattended, lost keys must be reported immediately. 

  • No smoking in the Motorhome  – No carriage of goods of an explosive, dangerous, or hazardous nature – no carriage of goods or passengers for hire or reward.

Additional driver £10 per day per driver.

Generator £ 10 per day.

We are not liable and RAC will not cover incorrect fuel in van.

Insurance will not cover fuel being put in clean water tank.
